The KEMP GEO LoadMaster and the Hybrid Cloud a perfect Cloud Load Balancing combination

The emergence of the Hybrid Cloud and Cloud Load Balancing

Welcome to the hybrid-cloud where applications are hosted both internally and externally by public cloud providers. The way that hybrid cloud computing works requires that global load balancers are needed for intelligent traffic direction. When traffic is running at normal levels the global (geographic) load balancers, such as the KEMP Technologies GEO LoadMaster, direct traffic to dedicated optimized application servers, however when traffic spikes the Geo LoadMaster will direct this spillover to servers that can be located on public cloud providers servers. While many public cloud service providers will insist that their management software means that their users will always get the most optimized server performance there are a number of IT Directors who disagree. They comment that the main reason that companies keep their public orientated content in house is that it is cheaper and the owner has more control and can gather more information about services, users and performance than public cloud based servers.

KEMP Technologies enters the Global (GEO) load balancer market

It is important to not see the cloud as an isolated environment but one that needs to be considered as an integrated part of the corporate network infrastructure. When KEMP Technologies launched its GEO Global LoadMaster (GLM) in April 2010 the market greeted this as a logical step for this fast growing company. The KEMP Geo LoadMaster for Cloud Load Balancing enables businesses to:

  • Direct web facing traffic to the closest and fastest performing data center.
  • Traffic can be rapidly redirected from a data center suffering from an outage to another data center that has capacity available.
  • Can be programmed to deal with sophisticated DOS (Denial Of Service) attacks
  • Logic algorithms can be applied by the IT team to direct traffic from in house servers to those on the public cloud according to KPIs that the IT department has set up.
  • That the KEMP Technologies GEO LoadMaster should be focused on geographic load balancing and should be the most economical solution available for global cloud load balancing today
